How does this course work?

Choosing to study abroad is a rewarding experience that can help you succeed both academically and personally. At Oxford International, we design our courses to prepare you both for your future studies and beyond.

When choosing a pathway course, you need to know what is right for you based on your academic and personal development goals. Our pathway courses will prepare you with subject-specific knowledge and academic English language skills. Alongside this, our dedicated and friendly college teams will ensure that you have the help you need to adjust to life as an international student abroad.

During your pathway course, you will take a combination of core and subject modules specific to your chosen degree. It’s a great way to get familiar with your subject area while learning core university study skills such as academic writing and referencing. There is still a lot of studying involved, but all our courses are designed to prepare you in the best possible way.

With experienced tutors and small class sizes, you will have the space to develop your confidence while strengthening your university-level study skills. Once you’ve completed, you will continue onto the next stage of your chosen degree course at university.

Throughout your time with us, we will support you to realise your true potential.

As well as modules unique to your specific pathway, you will also study several modules that are common to all pathways.

Common modules

This module aims to help you achieve the equivalent of IELTS 6.0 (with no skill below 5.5) for continuation to further study at University of Greenwich. Through this course, you will be made aware of the critical importance of English competence in the context of your ongoing academic studies.

Digital Literacy develops your computing skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It further helps you to develop research skills through appropriate use of the Internet, and shows how using both the VLE (Virtual Learning Environment) and social media can help you communicate effectively with your tutors and fellow students.

The Project Study module will help you develop the skills required to plan, research, write and deliver a project within your subject area. You will have the opportunity to study all aspects of a project related to your particular field of study, identify and develop the skills to enable you to realise the project, and report your findings both in written form and through a presentation.

I have a lot of international friends here at BUIC, and I’ve learnt so much from them. There is always a lot to do together both on and off-campus.

Sagar Nepal, Bangor University International College (BUIC)

I would recommend UGIC because it is based on the main University of Greenwich campus, a cosmopolitan university. At UGIC, there are students from all around the world, and I've made a lot of friends from exciting places."

Gozel Turkmenistan, University of Greenwich International College (UGIC)

I think one of the main reasons the IIM (pre-masters) has been so helpful is because the staff are so supportive and are always able to help me. Whether it is understanding a module or finding out how to sort accommodation, they will help you with everything. I’ve enjoyed studying at Bangor, the people are friendly, and the environment is also really peaceful and safe. It’s given me the best opportunity to succeed in my studies here in the UK.
