About the International Foundation Programme

The International Foundation Programme (IFP) is a foundation year course (Level 3), similar to A levels in the UK. You can study it over 30 or 40 weeks.

During your programme, you will:

  • Improve your academic English
  • Learn the subjects related to your future degree
  • Build the skills you need to succeed at university

While studying the IFP, you will:

  • Study on the university campus
  • Use all university facilities, like the library, study areas, and student services
  • Be part of the student community and enjoy student benefits

After completing the IFP, you can progress to the first year of your chosen university degree.

Curriculum

As well as modules unique to your specific pathway, you will also study several modules that are common to all pathways.

Common modules

This module will develop your reading, writing, speaking and listening abilities.  You will apply your English language through activities such as critical reading, presentations, and academic writing.

This module is an opportunity to develop academic and transferable skills through research into a specific topic.  You will learn about literature review, research methods, analysis, and ethics.

This module enables international students to engage with critical reflection on their learning style, and the skills, knowledge and crucially the cultural aspects related to their Higher Education studies.
