Degree Overview

This course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS). The psychology with criminology degree programme will help you gain an understanding of the human mind and how it shapes and influences our behaviour. The programme explores human behaviour using sound scientific methodology – observation, measurement, and testing – to understand how and why people function in the way they do. Alongside studies in psychology, you will also explore the study of crime, how psychological theories can be applied to criminal behaviour, and social reactions to crime.
Studying a professionally accredited psychology degree by BPS is an essential first step to a career as a psychologist or to progress to postgraduate study. Our programme helps to equip you with transferable skills in critical thinking and communication, as well as more industry specific competencies such as scientific research methods, data analysis and data presentation skills.
Graduates of this course have gone on to pursue careers where an understanding of societal issues is key – such as in criminal justice, education, social work, research, advertising, human resources and healthcare.
This degree focuses on core areas of psychology including biological, cognitive, developmental and social psychology, and you’ll cover personality and intelligence, research methods, and historical perspectives. Through elective modules in the second and third years, you will have the opportunity to tailor your learning to align with your chosen area of specialism within psychology with criminology; be it counselling psychology, work psychology, cyberpsychology plus many more.
