Bremen, Germany

As the second largest city in Northern Germany, Bremen is home to a population of about 560,000 people. Students make up around 40,000 of this population.

The city is becoming increasingly popular for students thanks to its 1,200-year history and high standard of living. As a relatively small city, with a lot to offer, it’s easy to get around yet big enough to explore.

Bremen was crowned the “city of science” in recognition of its unique combination of science and economics. International companies from across aerospace, maritime and automotive industries – such as Mercedes Benz, Airbus and the BLG Logistics Group – have a presence here.

The historical market square is famous for Bremen’s mascots, the Town Musicians and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Top reasons to study in Bremen:

  • Historical city: A rich 1,200-year history and tradition
  • Innovation: Bremen is a hub of innovation and technology
  • Well-connected: Tranportation in Germany is cheap, with discount for students to travel to neighbouring cities such as Munich, Berlin, Hamburg.

Explore Bremen

Supporting students to success

Learn more about what our students have to say when studying across our education network.

I have a lot of international friends here at BUIC, and I’ve learnt so much from them. There is always a lot to do together both on and off-campus.

Sagar Nepal, Bangor University International College (BUIC)

I would recommend UGIC because it is based on the main University of Greenwich campus, a cosmopolitan university. At UGIC, there are students from all around the world, and I've made a lot of friends from exciting places."

Gozel Turkmenistan, University of Greenwich International College (UGIC)

I think one of the main reasons the IIM (pre-masters) has been so helpful is because the staff are so supportive and are always able to help me. Whether it is understanding a module or finding out how to sort accommodation, they will help you with everything. I’ve enjoyed studying at Bangor, the people are friendly, and the environment is also really peaceful and safe. It’s given me the best opportunity to succeed in my studies here in the UK.
