Overview

The Pre-Master’s is designed for students who do not qualify for direct entry to a postgraduate degree at the University of Dundee. This could be because of the grades achieved in your undergraduate degree; your current qualifications are not equivalent to a UK undergraduate degree or if you want to improve your academic and English language skills.
The Pre-Masters course will equip you with the advanced skills you need to complete your postgraduate study at the University of Dundee. You will study over one term, this is a fast-track route to your chosen degree course and is studied over three months.

Core Modules

This module provides the appropriate foundation in statistical knowledge and skills to enable students to be successful in the future studies at master’s level. The module offers a grounding in statistics with an emphasis on practical applications and extensive use of statistical packages.

The aim of this module is to allow students an opportunity to engage with the concept of reflective practice. It is recognised that professional knowledge includes inter and intrapersonal elements such as values, previous experiences, emotions and personal capabilities. This module will encourage students to reflect upon what they bring to their studies, personally and professionally, and locate this within a comparative context.

The aim of the module is to introduce students to social research methods of direct relevance to their professional practice or further academic study in Psychology and familiarise them with standard research terminology. The module will cover qualitative, quantitative and evidence-based approaches to research.
