Apply course concepts and critical theories and methodologies to identify the structural and ideological forces that shape the lives of Asian Americans.
Apply the skills and knowledge acquired toward the self-determination and empowerment of Asian American communities.
Develop values of social justice, equity, activism, and respect for differences.
Construct evidence-based and persuasive oral and written arguments with proper citations and support from multiple forms of knowledge, including community and academic resources, that communicate what students have discovered.
The Asian American Studies Department offers a unique academic experience where students from all majors can learn the histories, contributions and diverse identities of Asian Americans in the United States.
Our courses provide specialized opportunities for students to engage in community-based re-search, social activism, performance pedagogies, service-learning and versatile internship experi-ences that positively impact our Asian American communities within the San Francisco Bay Area and across the nation.
The International Year One is the perfect pathway if you want a undergraduate degree from a UK, EU or US University but do not meet the requirements for direct entry.
The IY1 course provides an intensive combination of first year University subject modules with English language skills.
Following successful completion of the IY1 you will continue onto your second year degree study directly with the University of your choice.
