Degree Overview

The physical education and sport degree teaches you the principles of teaching and coaching. The main disciplines include sport psychology, sport and exercise physiology, sociology of sport, and sport policy and development. By participating in athletics, dance, games, gymnastics, outdoor and adventurous activities and swimming, you will explore the practical areas of the national curriculum for PE.

This course programme will help you develop your contemporary knowledge and understanding of PE and sport, as well as relevant skills for a range of sport-related careers. It is taught at Avery Hill Campus, home to the university’s extensive sports facilities and where most of our student sports take place.

The International Year Zero is the first year of the four year undergraduate course. IYZ is designed to help you gain extra skills in your subject area, as well as English Language, before you continue to year one of your chosen University undergraduate degree course.

Following successful completion of the IYZ, you will continue onto Year One of your degree directly with the University of your choice.
