This course has been carefully structured to equip students with the most up-to-date knowledge, skills and experience required by industry.
The programme is guided by knowledgeable industry active staff such as Carlton Reeve (a consultant for commercial AR games) and Peter Chapman (who runs his own digital agency), you’ll learn advanced techniques such as: 3D modelling, motion capture, digital compositing, programming, games design and app development.
In this course you’ll benefit from plenty of opportunities to expand your knowledge and grow your passion. This includes 48-hour film and game jams, access to technical equipment for personal projects, and workshops delivered by award-winning industry professionals such as James Butler (Animator, Peppa Pig) and Iki Ikram (VFX Artist, Last of Us, Uncharted).
The department has a close relationship with the resident Working Academy placement agency, which provides students and graduates with the opportunity to work on collaborative digital projects commissioned through public sector organisations.
The IFY will prepare you for the first year of your undergraduate degree. It’s made up of several core and subject-specific modules that will give you a greater understanding of your chosen subject area. The skills you develop through this programme will help you in your chosen degree, in your future career, and in all aspects of life.

IYZ is designed to help you gain extra skills in your subject area, as well as English Language, before you continue to year one of your chosen University undergraduate degree course.
Following successful completion of the IYZ, you will continue onto Year One of your degree directly with the University of your choice.
